Each year, the Friends of Blue Spring State Park host a beloved tradition: our Manatee Quilt Giveaway, featuring one-of-a-kind, handcrafted prizes that celebrate the beauty of Florida’s gentle giants.
From November 1 through January 23 at 5:00 PM, every donation helps support our nonprofit mission—and earns you entries into the giveaway!

Online donations accepted until Friday, January 23, 2026 at 5:00 PM
In-person donations accepted at the Manatee Festival (January 24–25, 2026)
Bonus opportunity: Donations can also be made during our Wednesday Evening Manatee Bingo nights at Blue Springs Brewing, located at 1070 S. Volusia Ave, Orange City, FL. Volunteers will be available to assist with entries.

HOW IT WORKS:
Physical Tickets are printed and put into our barrel and spun.
We pull the tickets and announce the Winners on all of our Social Media Pages.
We call the Winners to notify and congratulate them.
We meet the Winners to present their prizes or mail them if they are not local.
You do not need to be present to win.

Orange City Christmas Parade
Please join us to celebrate the holidays and welcome Santa to Orange City. The parade is on S. Volusia Ave from French Ave down to Ohio Ave. We would love to see you there! We are the ones with the giant inflatable manatee, Hope, as we celebrate the theme: Gnome Place Like Home for the Holidays!
Guided Jay Walk
The kind of jaywalking that won't get you a ticket!
This is a guided hiking tour where we will trek through about 0.25 miles of scrub to look for our iconic Florida Scrub Jay. Visitors should be prepared with water, sunscreen, bug spray, and closed-toe shoes. Most of the hike is on soft sand. No pets are allowed on the tour for the safety of the birds.
Please arrive by 8:15 am and let the Ranger at the entrance know you are here for the Jay Walk when you pay the entrance fee. The meeting location is at the Ranger Station. Binoculars are not required, but highly recommended.
Park entry fees are not included. Typical fees are $4 for a 1 person car and $6 for up to 8 in a car.

Plan to arrive by 4:15 pm and meet at 4:30 in the Roadside Pavilion in the lower parking lot next to the restroom and playground. Please remember the park entry fee must be paid at the ranger station. Typical entry fees are $4 for a 1 person car and $6 for up to 8 in a car.

Park After Dark
Experience the Park After Dark!
Join us for an unforgettable evening of creativity and discovery! Kick off the adventure with a Nature Journaling Class, where you'll learn to capture the wonders of alligators through art and observation. Kids can dive into hands-on crafts. You can also get your stretch on with Orange City Yoga to relax and engage your senses to fully enjoy the serenity and beauty of our park! Yoga is a separate ticket.
Pack a picnic dinner and savor the breathtaking sunset as it paints the sky with dazzling hues. Then, as darkness falls, step into the unknown with Park After Dark! Stroll the Spring Walk, where nature comes alive in new and unexpected ways. Listen to the mysterious night sounds, spot elusive wildlife, and look for the gator eyes on the water.
Throughout the journey, friendly volunteers will be stationed along the route, ready to share their knowledge and answer your questions. Whether you're here to explore, create, or simply enjoy the beauty of nature, this is an evening you won’t want to miss!

Full ‘Wolf” Moon Hike
It is amazing to experience the serenity and atmosphere of the park after dark.
Please join us for the Full ‘Wolf‘ Moon Hike on Saturday, January 3rd. Plan to arrive at the park by 5:15pm and meet at the Roadside Pavilion by 5:30 pm.. The fee is only $3 per person at the link below.
Plan to bring: Flashlights, Bug spray, Closed-toe shoes and Water
Important Notes:
The terrain includes grass lawn, scrub trails, loose sand and other hazards.
Please no pets; only ADA Service Animals are allowed.

Full Moon Hike
Join us for this month’s Full Moon hike. Please arrive at the park by 5:15 PM. We will meet at the Roadside Pavilion located in the Lower Parking Lot next to the restrooms at 5:30 PM.
You will be given an after-hours pass to place on your dashboard. We recommend you bring flashlights, bug spray, closed-toe shoes, and water. Please do not wear flashing, light-up sneakers. We ask that you do not bring pets on this hike; only ADA Service Animals are allowed.
The hike will be a little over 1-mile long and the length will depend on the number of stops we make along the way. It will take place on sidewalk and sandy soils with some potential roots and trip hazards. At the conclusion of the hike, all visitors are asked to promptly exit the park.

Save the Manatee 5K
For the first time, Blue Spring State Park will be hosting the in-person Save the Manatee 5K! With the help of Friends of Blue Spring State Park, the event will take place on 11-15-25!
This date marks the first day of Manatee Season for the fall/winter months and is in the middle of Manatee Awareness Month. The 5K encourages raising awareness and funds to protect manatees and their habitats. We can’t wait to see you in the park!

Plein Air Art Fest
Step into a day of creativity, nature, and community at Blue Spring State Park!
Our Plein Air Art Fest celebrates the French tradition of plein air painting—where artists leave the studio behind and paint outdoors, capturing the light, color, and movement of the natural world in real time.
Wander the park and watch talented Florida artists bring the landscape to life with every brushstroke. From the shimmering spring to the towering oaks, you’ll see nature transformed into art right before your eyes.
Not just for artists—this is a festival for everyone!
Enjoy live storytelling, yoga demos, guided bird hikes, face painting, and hands-on art activities for kids. Meet Ranger Blu, shop local art and merch, and bring a picnic to relax under the trees.
🎨 Curious to try painting yourself?
Join our Plein Air Art Class—no experience needed! You'll paint alongside the spring with guidance from a professional instructor.
• $25 includes all supplies
• $15 if you bring your own tools and medium
Spots are still available, and the setting couldn’t be more inspiring.

Storyteller Cheryl Floyd shares “The Story of Mary Ann Thursby” at 12:00 and 12:30 behind the historic Thursby House.

Please join our experienced and knowledgeable volunteers to guide you along the boardwalk while you learn more about our park. Please meet near the restrooms in the lower parking lot at 8:45 am.

Rolling Hikes Kickoff

Rolling Hikes Fall Kickoff
Saturday, October 11th | 10:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Join us for a fun and inclusive day in nature designed especially for mobility-challenged guests and their families!
The event will feature:
An obstacle course adventure
A rolling hike along a scenic nature trail
Activity stations including:
Archery with Nerf-tipped arrows
Velcro & Nerf axe throwing
Bring your family and friends and enjoy a day of outdoor fun, connection, and exploration.
Canned Food Drive!
Friends of BSSP is collecting non-perishable food items to show our gratitude for the support the Orange City community gives to us!
PLEASE HELP US BY BRINGING A DONATION!! We will have a collection station at events on 10-11, 10-12, 10-15, and 10-25! Thank you in advance for your generosity.
We will deliver all the donations to the food pantry at St. Jude’s Episcopal Church!
